Do something different

Bike/C-train symbiosis!

Let commuters take bikes onto the train at all hours! The current regulations clearly discourage cycling. A vertical storage system with hooks would help create space for all. More cyclists would also ease the parking issues we have around train stations.

The Great Canadian Tour

Calgary artists and cultural organizations could put together a national touring show (one big show together or several smaller shows) that would start to put a bigger emphasis on "exporting" Calgary's creativity. We already do this in a number of areas, but with extra support, 2012 could be a year when Canadians learn first hand what Calgary has to offer.

Export Excellence

We should focus on exporting excellence: the people, organizations, initiatives, technologies, art, etc. that have roots in Calgary and can compete in external markets. We should work to figure out what it is about Calgary that helped them achieve these qualities, and what can we do to help the world experience more Calgary???

The Calgary Wheel

Like The London Eye, the Star of Nanching or the Daikanransha in Odaiba, Japan, The Calgary Wheel would be striking against our current skyline, making us instantly recognizable to the world as one of the few cities to offer such an attraction. Part of what makes up Calgary's culture, is the physical beauty of our city. We have a magnificent skyline, why not show it off and make it accessible for everyone to enjoy? Placed ...more »

Fiddle Music Celebration

Calgarians have embraced the cowboy history and culture by celebrating the Calgary Stampede each year. What about showcasing the music those cowboys (and many of our ancestors nationwide/worldwide) would have cherished and enjoyed by celebrating the culture and heritage of fiddle music? I would like to see a fiddle celebration or festival in our city!
