A city's culture is largely influenced by the food that grows there, how it's cooked and how it's shared. So we need more LOCALLY PRODUCED FOOD! As a grad student, I would love to see the University of Calgary's Faculty of Environmental Design involved. Be it a reconstruction of the latest Solar Decathlon project, or something new and sustainable, that can be used as a cooperative within the community, there is a lot of great design potential here! Let commuters take bikes onto the train at all hours! The current regulations clearly discourage cycling. A vertical storage system with hooks would help create space for all. More cyclists would also ease the parking issues we have around train stations.
