As a grad student, I would love to see the University of Calgary's Faculty of Environmental Design involved. Be it a reconstruction of the latest Solar Decathlon project, or something new and sustainable, that can be used as a cooperative within the community, there is a lot of great design potential here! Calgary Public Library 100 years working in Culture

Celebrate the Calgary Public Library’s Centenary in 2012 with a new and architecturally groundbreaking downtown building. What better way to promote the culture of this city than showing support for an organization with one hundred years of providing access to culture and literacy under its belt? Calgary Points of Pride

The city of Phoenix has identified 33 attractions and landmarks and deemed them, "Points of Pride". Historical landmarks, marketplaces, hills, points of interest. We should do the same, promote them in a one stop website with maps, pictures, videos, etc. You involve the community by giving them a place to put up their pictures and video. Connect the people of downtown with the vibrancy of uptown

Proposed over the years in City Council was the idea of having a "bridge" between the core and the Beltline. If I were to think in terms of building a civic legacy and had dollars at my disposal, I'd create a terraced park space over a block of the CP rail lines. Free Culture in 2012: What if every Tuesday in 2012 was "free culture night?" Everything from performing to visual arts, theatres to museums... free admission to anyone!

 

Lets make sure that in 2012, there is NO barrier to every Calgarian having amazing cultural experiences.

Every calgarian is a great artist! Lets let every calgarian become a great artist and have there art viewed in public with chalk art! We should simply suggesting that everyone go out and create there work of art on the streets and sidewalks of calgary with sidewalk chalk.
