The Shaganappi encarpment has the presence of butchered and burned bones possible kill sites. A bison jump site where the Blackfoot used for years similar to Head smashed in Buffalo site.. On Common Ground

Fort Calgary at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow Rivers has long been described as the birthplace of the city and Calgary’s most important historic site. However, this European world view overlooks the Aboriginal history that dates back thousands of years - a history that is rooted in a sense of place rather than government and industry. The Bow and Elbow confluence was historically a meeting place for the Blackfoot, ...more »

Street Performers

I would like to see areas in the city that enable activities such as buskers, street musicians, street dancers and short plays and happenings where they won't be harassed by authorities. These could be administered areas designated for this type of use. For example, out front of the Plaza Theatre in Kensington. There is lots of sidewalk space there where people could accumulate to watch. Creating these designated ...more »

Calgary business people team with artists

There should be an initiative for Calgary business movers and shakers to be paired with Calgary artists, musicians, dancers, poets etc. where they can commission and support new works for 2012. I don't mean corporate sponsors - I mean individuals. It would be an endeavor wherein business people come together with art people to produce a lasting legacy for Calgary.

Calgary Points of Pride

The city of Phoenix has identified 33 attractions and landmarks and deemed them, "Points of Pride". Historical landmarks, marketplaces, hills, points of interest. We should do the same, promote them in a one stop website with maps, pictures, videos, etc. You involve the community by giving them a place to put up their pictures and video. Get people to submit nominations and have the people vote for them. I would put ...more »

Busker's Festival

In recent years the Downtown core has had more buskers! Street performers are fun to watch and listen to. It would be fun to do what Halifax has done for quite some time and has much success too---a Buskers Festival!

Fiddle Music Celebration

Calgarians have embraced the cowboy history and culture by celebrating the Calgary Stampede each year. What about showcasing the music those cowboys (and many of our ancestors nationwide/worldwide) would have cherished and enjoyed by celebrating the culture and heritage of fiddle music? I would like to see a fiddle celebration or festival in our city!
