I just returned to Calgary after 2+ weeks in Chicago, where preserving heritage buildings and installing fabulously huge public art are ingrained, which is so opposed to what we have here.
Even more amazing, their tourist office -- the equivalent of Tourism Calgary -- is part of their Civic Cultural Promotion department.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to see Calgary driven to develop high culture to bring tourists, and not the other way around?
